Legacy and Growth @ Hirsch Farm!
Exciting Announcement!
In the spirit of better trails, increased funding, increased volunteer power, and more access to all the things that make trails possible, beginning June 1st, 2024, PHPT will be ending thier 501(c) and joining the Tri-State Mountain Bike Riders (TMBR) organization.
TMBR builds, maintains, and promotes off-road cycling for all trail users. Since its inception TMBR has been laser focused on building our driftless region into a mountain biking destination which offers premier trails and outdoor experiences for everyone. The construction of Cloie Creek Park, Interstate Power Preserve, and Proving Grounds were just the beginning of what TMBR has planned for the region’s future. TMBR is now focused on fulfilling its true Tri-State vision by including trail systems in Wisconsin (Hirsch Farm) and Illinois (Chestnut, Farside Bike Park) with the ultimate goal of becoming an outdoor adventure IMBA Ride Center destination for enthusiasts around the region and country!
Functionally this merger means that TMBR will provide organizational oversight, help to fund trails and projects, ensure that tools and equipment are purchased and maintained, and provide support for the stewardship and improvement of the Hirsch Farm trails as well as continued support of the trails at Knollwood and Mound View Parks. This merger also opens the door for future trail projects in Southwest Wisconsin. Everything will be housed under the TMBR 501(c) organization.
Combining organizations allows us to speak as one voice in our region and bring a larger user group and volunteer base to the Platteville trails. Ultimately it will result in an increased ability for us to maintain and create trails where people can get out and enjoy wildly beautiful places this region. Going forward Ross Lemery is taking the position of Trail Boss at the Hirsch Farm. He will be responsible for overseeing maintenance, trail improvements, expansion, volunteer organization, and will have the full support of the TMBR in those efforts. Corey Kronser will be joining the TMBR board as the regional representative for Wisconsin to support the current trails and help to advocate for future projects.
We encourage everyone to help support this exciting new partnership by becoming members of TMBR. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to reach out. Tuesday, May 28th, the TMBR board met at the Hirsch Farm to ride and answer any questions the community had, and to give a sneak peak of the latest projects in the works. The informal meeting of about 20 folks from the Platteville and Dubuque community convened at Steve’s Pizza Palace for a celebration of trail growth and legacy.
2024 is going to be a great year to enjoy the trails!
Sincerely,
Corey Kronser – President, Platteville Human Powered Trails / PHPT
Sam Wilson – President, Tri-state Mountain Bike Riders / TMBR
